Choosing the right music teacher for your child or yourself is important. It can make the difference between a life long love of music or disappointment and frustration. We believe the key to successful teaching is setting realistic goals and knowing when to progress and when to hold back. We understand that active listening and careful observation of students is as important as formal music instruction.

We provide a solid music foundation by teaching our students to:

  • read standard notation
  • master their instrument with joy and creativity
  • not rely on gimmicks or shortcuts
  • understand the rules of music rather than memorizing pieces
  • maximize their playing skills with proper fingering techniques

We are committed to teaching beginner through intermediate level students. We focus on making students relaxed and comfortable with their instrument by emphasizing BASICS FIRST.

Louise Hetzler brings a unique skill set to her singing students. Louise is a licensed speech pathologist. Her speech training and singing experience enables her to properly evaluate a student's vocal range and work within it to avoid vocal strain. Louise's combined skills make her well suited for teaching children and helping adults set attainable goals.

We augment our instruction by providing real world venues for our students to play and perform in.

  • We hold a monthly slow jam for our fiddle, mandolin and guitar students to accustom them to playing with others early in their music training.
  • We hold an annual recital for our young piano, guitar and singing students.
  • When appropriate we invite students to join us on stage at real gigs.

Successful music training involves caring teachers and motivated students. We emphasize that music is a life long social activity and that musicianship requires discipline, creativity and respect for others. Technical proficiency at the expense of feeling is not what we are about.
